There is an African legend about why the hippo has no hair: “Long ago the animal would have had beautiful long hair. It was so proud of this, that he started bragging to a bunny.

After he told the bunny that he had ugly hair, the bunny became angry and set his hair on fire while the hippo was asleep. Since then, the hippo has been bald, and is now so ashamed of its body that it has come to live under water.”
